How about:p{ border-top:1px solid rgba(255,255,255,0.2); border-bottom:1px solid rgba(0,0,0,0.2); padding:1.5em 0;}p:first-child{ border-top:none; padding-top:0;}p:last-child{ border-bottom:none; padding-bottom:0;}which would add your separators, with no extra markup, to your demo.
